Tsavo National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and oldest parks, is renowned for its vast landscapes, dramatic scenery, and diverse wildlife. Located in the southeastern part of the country, Tsavo covers over 20,000 square kilometers and is divided into two main sections Tsavo East and Tsavo West each offering distinct safari experiences.
Tsavo is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including large populations of elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and over 500 species of birds. The park is famous for its “red elephants,” which take on a reddish hue due to the iron-rich soil they bathe in. Tsavo’s rugged terrain, with its savannahs, wetlands, volcanic hills, and rivers, provides dramatic backdrops for game viewing and adventure.
A visit to Tsavo offers a quieter, more secluded experience compared to other Kenyan parks, with less crowding and vast open spaces that allow for uninterrupted wildlife encounters. Its proximity to the coast makes it an excellent addition to a beach and safari combination.
