Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s most accessible wildlife destinations, located just a few hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam. Covering an area of over 3,230 km², Mikumi borders the vast Selous Game Reserve (now part of Nyerere National Park) and forms part of the greater southern safari circuit.
Often referred to as a “mini-Serengeti,” Mikumi features sweeping savannahs, Baobab-dotted plains, and scenic mountain backdrops, making it ideal for classic game drives and photography. The park’s Mkata floodplain is a hotspot for viewing abundant wildlife.
